FOUNE

Foune was born in Montmartre and that alone can be seen as a first sign of artistry.
The year was 1927 and since then, Foune has shown many other facets of her talent over more than 320 paintings that have been exhibited from Paris to Singapore, Chicago, Tokyo, etc...
It could be said that Foune never pops out with the same inspiration twice. Each one of her works stems from an idea to be used once only and interpreted through the most exacting technique. It never bears any relation, however remote, with any preceding adventure. Still, there is one recurrent face that appears here and there but that must be seen as an expression of love: quite often, Foune lends to some of her characters that same face which happens to be the replica of her husband's own features.
Foune's artistic expression has sometime been categorized as " Art Naïf "  but that is a  serious misconception. Her work belongs to a niche that is entirely her own and could aptly be called : " Surrealism with a Smile " !
Foune's whole artistic career is an enchanting assemblage of the weirdest and supremely elegant concepts that can be found on our side of the moon. One doesn't watch her paintings, one travels through them and it  is a fascinating trip indeed. It clearly reminds us that once upon a time, we had far more imagination and poetry than today but then, of course, we were still children.
… and there is nothing naïve about that !
